14 Million active users, 53 Million tracks and an exclusive Rotana deal make Deezer an unrivalled contender in MENA.
Global music streaming giant Deezer, which announced late last year a deal that gave them Rotana’s robust Arabic library exclusively, is expanding its presence in the Middle East. With a new CEO appointed and Dubai office opened, the company revealed it plans to support local artists, and communities and lead on technology to give users a premium music experience.
Since its launch in 2007, Deezer has helped music lovers in 180 countries enjoy unlimited music on mobile and web, and has progressed to serve 14 million monthly active users.
The MENA entry has started with an aggressive approach, signing an exclusive digital distribution agreement with Rotana Group. This start has positioned Deezer as a unique platform allowing the region’s residents to stream their preferred music with an optimum quality of sound.
“Deezer offers instant access to one of the largest music libraries,” Deezer’s Content, Artist Marketing & Industry Relations Director for the MENA region Hisham Aramouny said, “Deezer’s 53 million track catalogue contains a lot of mainstream music including exclusive content from Rotana.”
Deezer’s unique features are an additional edge too, including the “free subscription option” that offers all Deezer users access to its library. Also, Deezer provides users in the region locally tailored music content, including playlists that are exclusively curated by local music editors such as Shabby Essentials.
“Our Deezer family includes a group of editors who work hard to combine the users’ recommendations with smart technology and help people discover music they love. Since every person is different, Deezer has also personalized music using “Flow”, where music recommendations are made based on users’ tastes and locations, aiming to predict what people may want to listen to. “Flow” then creates a recommended personalized list and plays an infinite stream of music, playlists, albums, mixes, and more, chosen just for the app users.
We couldn’t have wished for a better start for Deezer in the region and we shall witness more successes in the near future for this global music streaming application”.
